How did AWARDS IN A BOX come about?
As a host of awards ceremonies for over 30 years I have been to more than my fair share of events where I have seen things go wrong that were NONE of my doing yet I had to dig myself and the event out of it.
I have seen sound engineers NOT listening to cues.
I have seen lighting engineers and AV technicians rolling cigarettes and scrolling through their phones when they should be 100% focusing on the guests at an event.
THEY are there for the guests…the guests aren’t there for THEM!
I have seen too many soulless events bereft of personality that looked just like any other job on a spreadsheet lacking any heart or care.
I needed to put it right. So having bought a lot of sound, lighting and AV equipment to take on the NEC over the years I thought rather than just HOST the night let’s produce every aspect of these events and remove all of the hassle and guesswork for the client.
I have also been to so many awards events where the major sponsors and companies who buy the most tables and brochure adverts MYSTERIOUSLY leave with armfuls of awards.
Who knew?
Either that or it’s a popularity contest based on an in-crowd and never a meritocracy where the cream should always rise to the top.
That is why I believe in-house events work so well.
